If for two seconds...

The world was your imagination.
Everything as you wished,
Impossibilities impossible,
Wishes coming true within a heartbeat,
A world of dreams and fantasies.

Call it a childish hope.
Call it a fool's paradise.
But I ask you:
Haven't we all,
Created our own worlds,
Our worlds of dreams and fantasies?

Then the seconds pass,
And reality returns,
Like an ocean wave
Washing away a sandcastle.
Or a mischievous kid
Extinguishing his brother's hope,
His world of dreams and fantasies.

The longing to return.
The twinge of regret.
The sad laugh at one's own foolishness.
The ache of knowing
That it was all just
A world of dreams and fantasies.

The choice of returning
Back into our worlds or not,
Lurks in the corner of our minds.
Foolishly,
Knowing the impossible is impossible,
Knowing the ache that will follow,
We choose to return,
If only for two seconds,
To our worlds of dreams and fantasies.
